Market goss with Tony: January – February 2014

As predicted, the stone fruit season will end earlier than usual this year. Look out for peaches, nectarines, apricots and plum’s final appearances throughout January and February. Tasmanian cherries are in but in low quantities, so prices will probably stay reasonably high. On a more positive note, white seedless grapes are in full swing and tasting absolutely magnificent! Blueberries and raspberries are also exceptionally sweet, with good varieties arriving from Tasmania and Victoria over the next month. And to top it all off, Seng Bros’ greatly anticipated grape tomatoes have finally arrived! The infamous local grower was affected by bad weather over Christmas, but their grape tomatoes are in store now and definitely worth the wait.
